How Ancient Rituals Used Wine to Bind People to Dark Covenants

Throughout history, wine has been more than just a drink—it has been a powerful tool in religious ceremonies, occult rituals, and mystical enchantments. Many ancient cultures believed that wine could be spiritually charged, either as a blessing or a curse, making it a medium through which divine or dark forces could operate. This idea is not only found in historical pagan practices but is also warned about in the Bible, which cautions against consuming wine that has been used in idolatrous rituals.

Could wine really be used to curse, deceive, and spiritually bind individuals to demonic covenants? The answer is found in both history and Scripture.

Wine in Ancient Religious and Occult Rituals

Wine played a key role in Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman religious rites, often being dedicated to false gods or used as a channel for invoking spirits. These pagan traditions reveal how wine was not simply consumed but infused with spiritual intent, sometimes even used to cast spells, curses, or initiate people into occultic covenants.

In Babylon and Canaan, wine was frequently offered to deities like Marduk, Ishtar, Baal, and Molech. It is believed that priests of Baal and Molech could enchant wine during rituals, binding participants to these false gods.

The Bible specifically warns against this practice in Isaiah 65:11:"But ye are they that forsake the Lord, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number."

This passage condemns those who participate in pagan drink offerings, reinforcing the idea that consuming such wine could spiritually entangle a person with idolatry.

In Greek and Roman paganism, wine was considered sacred to Dionysus (also known as Bacchus in Rome), the god of intoxication, chaos, and ritual ecstasy. The Dionysian cults believed that wine could serve as a conduit between humans and the divine, and drinking it could “possess” a person with the spirit of Bacchus.

Similarly, Roman sorcerers and witches were known to curse wine as a means of controlling enemies. Poisoned, drugged, or cursed wine was a tool of both political intrigue and spiritual corruption.

Egyptian priests of Horus, Osiris, and Set also used wine in ritualistic offerings. Ancient papyrus texts describe how wine could be infused with magical spells, dedicated to spirits, or even used to induce visions and demonic encounters.

It is believed that wine was sometimes mixed with blood, ashes, or psychoactive herbs to give it additional mystical potency.

Biblical Warnings Against Cursed Wine

The Bible repeatedly warns against drinking wine that has been used in pagan rituals or dedicated to false gods, highlighting the dangers of consuming spiritually tainted substances.

Proverbs 23:31-32:

"Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder."

This passage suggests that certain wines are spiritually dangerous, perhaps even "poisoned" in a mystical sense—bringing deception, addiction, and destruction.

Revelation 17:2:

"With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

The Whore of Babylon deceives the nations with her wine, which could symbolize both spiritual corruption and literal cursed wine used in occult rituals.

1 Corinthians 10:21:

"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."

Paul warns against drinking from pagan sacrificial cups, reinforcing that what we consume can have spiritual implications.

Revelation 18:3:

"For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."

This again ties Babylon’s corrupt system to the use of wine as a tool for deception and spiritual entrapment.

The idea that wine can be spiritually manipulated is not mere superstition—it is rooted in history and explicitly warned about in the Bible. Many ancient cultures infused wine with curses, enchantments, and demonic influence, binding those who drank it to occult covenants.

The Whore of Babylon’s wine, as described in Revelation, serves as a warning that deception and spiritual bondage can come through what we consume—both physically and spiritually.

As believers, we are called to be discerning and to avoid anything that has been dedicated to false gods or dark forces.

Would you knowingly drink from a cup dedicated to darkness?

The Hidden Dangers of Ritually Cursed Wine: A Gateway to Spiritual Deception

Wine has not only been used in sacred rites but has also been ritually cursed to serve as a conduit for spiritual corruption, demonic influence, and deception. From ancient Babylon, Egypt, and Rome to modern occult practices, wine has been altered, dedicated to false gods, and infused with curses, binding the drinker to unseen forces. The Bible repeatedly warns about the dangers of consuming spiritually tainted substances, making it clear that certain rituals surrounding wine are not merely symbolic, but carry real spiritual consequences.

The process of cursing wine was never a random act but a deliberate and highly ritualistic practice. It involved incantations, sacrifices, and spiritual dedications that transformed an ordinary drink into something far more sinister—a tool of control, deception, and even spiritual bondage. Ancient pagan priests, witches, and sorcerers understood that wine could serve as a medium for invoking spirits, binding individuals to spiritual contracts, or subjecting them to unseen influences.

In Babylon, Egypt, Rome, and the Greek mystery cults, wine was more than just a ceremonial offering; it was a spiritually charged substance used to manipulate and ensnare those who drank it. Pagan priests would speak ritualistic words over the wine, dedicating it to their gods or summoning demonic entities to inhabit the liquid. Once cursed, the wine became a vessel of deception, seduction, and control, ensuring that whoever partook of it unknowingly aligned themselves with the spirits invoked. The power of these spoken incantations was believed to seal spiritual agreements, making the drinker subject to the will of the entity to whom the wine had been dedicated.

The Bible directly warns against such practices, revealing that consuming anything offered to false gods results in spiritual corruption. In 1 Corinthians 10:20-21, it states: "But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils." This passage emphasizes that participating in these rituals—whether knowingly or unknowingly—places a person into fellowship with darkness. To drink from the cup that has been offered to devils is to invite their influence into one's life, further entrenching them in spiritual deception.

While many may dismiss such practices as myths or archaic superstitions, the truth remains that ritually charged substances still play a role in modern occult circles. Whether through secret ceremonies, elite initiations, or dark spiritual practices, the power behind cursed wine is not merely symbolic—it is a real and dangerous means of spiritual enslavement. The Bible warns against drinking from the "cup of devils," yet the world continues to consume what has been placed before them, unaware of the deeper implications.

Galatians 4:8-9

"Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?"

This verse speaks of spiritual enslavement, showing how those who turn away from the truth of God are drawn back into bondage to false gods, idolatry, and spiritual deception. It warns against being ensnared by systems that enslave the soul rather than setting it free in Christ.

In certain occult traditions, wine was not merely a ceremonial drink but a spiritually enhanced substance, deliberately altered with blood, ashes, or hallucinogenic herbs to heighten its supernatural effects. These additions were believed to increase the wine’s power, transforming it into a medium for possession, enchantment, and mind control.

Blood, both human and animal, was sometimes mixed into wine as part of demonic pacts, an act directly condemned in Psalm 16:4"Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips." The shedding of blood in ritual offerings was seen as a way to seal spiritual covenants, binding the drinker to the entity invoked. Mystery cults and occultists believed that incorporating blood into wine gave it a supernatural charge, further ensnaring the soul of the participant.

Ashes and psychoactive herbs were also mixed into wine to produce visions, demonic encounters, and altered states of consciousness, often with the intent of exerting control over those who consumed it. Certain cults and initiatory societies used these concoctions to weaken the mind, open spiritual gateways, and deepen the influence of dark forces over an individual.

Though these practices originated in ancient religious and occult rituals, they persist today in some modern occult circles, where wine is still ritually charged to invoke spirits, place curses, or initiate individuals into secret societies.

Dedication to False Gods or Demonic Entities

In many ancient traditions, wine was first offered to a deity or spirit before consumption, ensuring that those who drank it unknowingly entered into agreement with that spiritual power.

The Bible issues a direct warning against this in Revelation 17:2:"With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

This passage suggests that Mystery Babylon’s wine is a symbol of spiritual deception, enslaving the nations through false worship and demonic influence.

Similarly, 1 Corinthians 8:10 cautions against partaking in food or drink offered to idols:"For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols?"

When wine (or any food) is dedicated to spiritual forces, it is no longer physically neutral—it becomes a channel for unseen influences.

Although the practice of ritually charged wine dates back to ancient civilizations, it has never truly disappeared. In modern times, secret societies, occult practitioners, and Satanic groups still use wine as a spiritual tool in various rituals, demonstrating that its significance extends far beyond a mere beverage. Ritually cursed or consecrated wine continues to serve as a medium of spiritual influence, just as it did in Babylonian, Egyptian, and Greco-Roman mystery cults.

In Satanic rituals, wine is sometimes deliberately cursed or dedicated to demonic spirits, with those who drink it unknowingly participating in a spiritual transaction. Such rituals are meant to bind individuals to dark forces, reinforcing demonic influence over them. Likewise, in New Age and witchcraft practices, wine is often used in spellwork, serving as a vessel to invoke power, create spiritual bonds, or establish hidden contracts between the drinker and unseen entities.

Elite secret societies are also believed to use charged wine in initiation ceremonies, following the traditions of ancient mystery religions where initiates were required to consume ritually prepared substances as part of their induction into esoteric orders. The belief is that once consumed, the spiritually altered wine connects the individual to the order’s hidden power, much like the ancient rites dedicated to gods and spirits.

While many today dismiss such practices as symbolic or superstitious, those who participate in these rituals understand that wine is more than just a drink—it is a gateway, a binding force, and a medium of spiritual control. Whether in ancient temples or modern elite circles, the use of wine as a mystical tool remains unchanged, subtly influencing those who partake in it, whether they realize it or not.

The Connection Between “Ritually Cursed Wine” and End-Time Prophecy

Mystery Babylon, as described in Revelation 17-18, is more than just an ancient city—it is a spiritual system of deception that has ensnared the world through false religion, corrupt governance, and economic oppression. The "wine" of Babylon is not merely symbolic of indulgence, but a representation of the spiritual intoxication that blinds the nations, leading them into false doctrines, occult initiations, and demonic influence hidden within religious, political, and economic institutions.

If Babylon’s wine is corruption, then ritually cursed wine is its most insidious tool—a means of binding people to hidden spiritual agreements without their knowledge. Just as the ancients used wine in occult rituals to dedicate drinkers to their gods, Babylon’s modern system operates through manipulation, mass deception, and spiritual control, ensuring that the world remains drunk on its lies, unable to see the truth.

Throughout history, priests wielded immense authority, not only as religious leaders but as spiritual enforcers. A priest’s curse was not simply a verbal condemnation—it was often a powerful declaration that invoked divine wrath, spiritual bondage, or occult forces. Whether in biblical contexts where curses were divine judgments, or in pagan traditions where they were instruments of sorcery, a priest’s words carried supernatural weight. The nature of these curses depended entirely on whom the priest served—the living God or demonic spirits.

Babylonian, Egyptian, and Greco-Roman priests used curses as magical weapons to invoke the power of their gods. These curses were not appeals to justice but acts of control, destruction, and enslavement.

In Babylon, priests inscribed curses onto clay tablets and buried them in sacred places, calling upon Bel (Baal) and Ishtar, or demonic entities to destroy their enemies. In Egypt, priests of Osiris placed curses on tombs and enemies using spells, often invoking divine wrath against grave robbers. Some pharaohs even had priests perform rituals with wax dolls, similar to modern voodoo, to curse their enemies.

In Greece and Rome, curse tablets, known as defixiones, were a common tool for priests and sorcerers. These lead inscriptions called upon Hades, Hecate, or the Furies to punish or spiritually enslave someone.

While biblical curses invoked God’s righteous judgment, pagan curses sought to ensnare, harm, or dominate others through demonic power.

Some priesthoods did not merely use curses as punishments—they used them as spiritual shackles to bind individuals into lifelong or even eternal servitude.

In certain occult traditions, blood curses were considered the most powerful form of bondage. Some ancient cultures believed that shedding blood during a curse permanently linked a person’s soul to the spell, even after death. Similarly, in mystery cults and secret societies, initiates were often required to place curses upon themselves if they ever betrayed their oaths. Throughout history, secret societies, occult groups, and esoteric brotherhoods have used oaths, curses, and spiritual bindings to ensure the loyalty of their members. One of the most common formulas in such groups is a self-imposed curse, often spoken during initiation, stating something like: “May I be struck down if I reveal our secrets!” This type of statement is more than just a verbal agreement—it acts as both a spiritual covenant and a psychological chain, designed to trap individuals within the system, preventing them from ever exposing its hidden truths.

Freemasonry and other secret societies use binding oaths, some of which include threats of divine retribution, bodily harm, or spiritual consequences if a member reveals the inner workings of the order. Historically, the Masonic initiatory rituals required candidates to swear oaths of secrecy upon pain of severe penalties. These oaths vary by degree, but they often include symbolic punishments, such as:

  • Having one's throat cut across

  • Having one's tongue torn out by the root

  • Having one's body dismembered and cast into the sea

Though modern Masonry often dismisses these penalties as symbolic, the spiritual weight behind such oaths remains. When a person swears an oath in blood or invokes a self-curse, they are spiritually binding themselves to that organization, whether they fully understand the implications or not.

The Bible strongly warns against swearing binding oaths, especially those that involve curses or allegiance to secret knowledge.

Matthew 5:34-37 – “But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

If the Bible forbids swearing oaths (Matthew 5:34-37, James 5:12), then why do courts require people to swear on it? The practice of swearing on the Bible in legal settings is rooted in tradition, not biblical commandment, and actually contradicts what Jesus taught.

Swearing on the Bible in court is ironic, because the very book being sworn upon forbids the practice!

That's how corrupted and backward this world and its system have become.

Are These Practices Still in Use Today?

The use of blood oaths, ritual bonds, and spiritual contracts continues in Freemasonry, Illuminati-linked groups, Rosicrucians, certain elite societies, and occult brotherhoods. Many members are unaware that by swearing such oaths, they may be unintentionally making spiritual agreements with forces beyond their understanding.

Additionally, modern occultists, satanic organizations, and witchcraft covens still use binding oaths, pacts, and self-curses to ensure loyalty and prevent exposure. Some initiates are even required to perform ritual sacrifices, write their name in blood, or vow lifelong allegiance to the group, reinforcing their spiritual enslavement.

If a person has taken a Masonic or occult oath, they must renounce it in the name of Jesus Christ to break any spiritual bondage attached to it. The Bible provides hope for deliverance:

Colossians 2:14-15“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Jesus breaks every curse, nullifies every oath made in darkness, and frees those bound by the chains of secret societies. Anyone who has been involved in Freemasonry, occult orders, or secret brotherhoods should pray for deliverance, repentance, and renounce all past spiritual agreements.

Whether in Freemasonry, secret societies, or occult groups, these self-cursing oaths are far from harmless traditions. They are spiritual contracts that can have lasting effects on a person’s life. The good news is that no bondage is greater than the power of Jesus Christ. Those who seek freedom must renounce these oaths, break the spiritual ties, and turn fully to God, who alone is the source of truth and salvation.

The Curse of Excommunication

During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church adapted the use of priestly curses in the form of excommunication, also known as anathema. Unlike biblical priestly curses, which called on God’s judgment, Catholic anathemas became a means of controlling political and religious power. A person excommunicated by the Church was not only banned from religious life but often ostracized from society, making them an outcast.

Some popes issued curses against entire cities, rulers, or groups, using anathemas as a weapon to maintain control.

The significance of a priest’s curse depended entirely on whom the priest served.

In the Bible, priestly curses were not magical incantations but divine judgments, calling down God’s justice upon sin. They were never meant for manipulation, control, or personal vengeance. However, in Babylon, Egypt, and Rome, priestly curses were tools of domination, calling upon demonic entities to harm or enslave others.

Even in medieval Catholicism, the use of anathemas and excommunication took on a political role, sometimes resembling the pagan use of curses more than the biblical examples of divine judgment.

A priest’s curse was a serious and powerful spiritual act, but the true question is: Who was being invoked—God or false spirits? That distinction determined whether a curse was a matter of righteous judgment or spiritual enslavement.

Breaking God’s Covenant Brings a Curse Upon the Earth

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that breaking God’s eternal covenant brings divine judgment and a curse upon the whole earth. When the Roman Catholic Church openly admits to changing the Sabbath—the sign of God’s covenant (Exodus 31:16-17)—it has not only rebelled against God but has invoked a curse upon the entire world.

Isaiah 24:5-6 declares:"The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left."

This is God’s direct warning: when His laws are transgressed, His ordinances changed, and His everlasting covenant broken, the result is a global curse. The earth itself suffers, and the people within it become desolate and consumed by the consequences of their rebellion.

The Roman Catholic Church’s claim that it had the authority to change the Sabbath is a direct fulfillment of Daniel 7:25:"And he shall think to change times and laws."

No human institution has the authority to alter what God has established. The Sabbath is not just a day of rest—it is the sign of God's eternal covenant with His people (Exodus 31:13-17). By removing this sign and replacing it with a man-made decree, the RCC has not just sinned—it has placed itself and the entire world under divine judgment.

Malachi 2:8-9 further condemns those who corrupt God’s covenant:"But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law."

The Catholic Church’s corruption of God’s law and covenant has caused billions to stumble, leading them away from truth and into deception. And because they have been partial in the law, picking and choosing what to keep and what to change, they have become contemptible before God.

(Scripture confirms that apostolic succession by man is false. Peter was just a man, and only God anoints apostles. If the RCC claims its power comes from Peter, then it does not come from God).

Yet, despite breaking the covenant and bringing a curse upon the earth, this same Church claims the right to issue anathemas (curses) upon others. But how can it place divine judgment on anyone if it itself is already under God’s curse? The answer is simple: it cannot, because its power is no longer from God.

Psalm 119:126 warns:"It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law."

The breaking of God’s law has reached its full measure, and His judgment is imminent. The curse that has been unleashed upon the earth is not a mystery—it is the result of rebellion against God’s covenant, led by a system that exalts itself above the Word of God.

A Church That Broke God’s Covenant Cannot Summon Divine Power—So Where Do Its Curses Come From?

If the Roman Catholic Church has knowingly and openly admitted to breaking God’s eternal covenant, then it has severed itself from divine authority. God’s covenant, particularly the Sabbath, was established at creation (Genesis 2:2-3), reaffirmed in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11), and declared to endure forever—even in the New Heavens and New Earth (Isaiah 66:22-23). No man, no institution, and no religious system has the power to change what God has made eternal.

If breaking God’s covenant brings a curse upon the entire earth, then how can the very institution responsible for invoking that curse now claim to have the power to bless, curse, forgive sins, or condemn souls?

The truth is simple yet devastating—if the RCC is not under God’s spiritual covering, then neither are its judgments, anathemas, or so-called divine declarations. They cannot summon divine favour because they have already placed themselves outside of it.

This is the inescapable question—if the RCC has lost divine authority by breaking God’s covenant, yet still exercises spiritual power, then that power must come from somewhere else. The Bible makes it clear that when a system abandons God, it does not remain in spiritual neutrality—it becomes an instrument of another kingdom.

Jesus warned in Matthew 6:24:"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

Revelation 13:2 directly identifies the source of its authority:"And the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority."

The "dragon" is Satan (Revelation 12:9), and the beast receives its power from him. If the Catholic Church is no longer aligned with God’s Kingdom but still wields power, then its power is being fueled by the adversary himself.

Anathemas, excommunications, and spiritual judgments are meant to be acts of divine justice, but true justice can only come from God. Since the RCC has rejected His covenant, it has no authority to issue divine judgments. Yet, their curses and excommunications still hold power over billions.

If their power does not come from God, then what does it resemble? Witchcraft.

1 Samuel 15:23 equates rebellion with sorcery:"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry."

The RCC rebels against God’s law while claiming spiritual authority—but its authority is not divine. Instead, it operates much like pagan priesthoods, mystery religions, and occult systems that use spoken curses, legalistic contracts, and ritualistic bondage to enslave their followers.

Their anathemas function like demonic spells—binding people under fear, deception, and spiritual oppression.

The greatest deception of all is that the same system that placed the earth under a curse now claims to be the one that can “save” people from it.

This is the lie of Babylon—to create the disease, and then offer itself as the cure.

Isaiah 28:15 describes this deception:"Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves."

The Roman Catholic Church has made a covenant with death—not with God. It has exchanged truth for deception, obedience for rebellion, and divine authority for demonic power. Yet it claims to be the only way to salvation, the only Church through which forgiveness and redemption can be obtained.

God’s Judgment on This System Is Already Written

The Bible does not leave this deception unanswered. The Catholic system—the one that exalts itself, changes God’s laws, and rules the kings of the earth—is prophesied to fall.

Revelation 18:4-5 commands:"Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities."

God remembers this system’s iniquities. He remembers its rejection of His covenant. He remembers the billions who were enslaved by its false authority. And He has declared its final judgment.

How can a church that broke God's eternal covenant by changing the Sabbath convince anyone that it has the power to call the Almighty down into a wafer? If they have already defied His commandments, how can they claim to summon His presence? God is not subject to man’s command. If that wafer carries the essence of anything, it is not Christ—for Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, not imprisoned in bread by the hands of those who reject His law.

At what age do Roman Catholic children first consume wine during Mass or Communion?
